The London 2012 Olympics could be responsible for the creation of further construction jobs after a contractor was appointed to build enhanced rowing and canoe sprint facilities.
Morrison Construction has been appointed to deliver the facilities, which will be constructed at Eton College Rowing Centre near Windsor, the Olympic Delivery Authority has confirmed.
The venue's existing facilities will be upgraded to include a new 50m bridge, the construction of a cut-through between the competition lake and return lake and an upgrade to the existing access road.
Chair of the London 2012 Organising Committee Sebastian Coe said that the venue is "set in the heart of rowing country".
"These enhancements show our commitment to providing the best possible facilities at Games time, whilst avoiding unnecessary money on creating new venues," he said.
Construction work on the facilities is expected to start in late summer.
It was recently announced that work had got underway at the London 2012 Aquatics Centre, with the 2800-tonne wave-shaped roof being lifted into place.
