Thousands of construction jobs could be created in Britain thanks to EDF Energy's intention of investing in new nuclear power stations.
The company recently held a supply chain event at London for UK-based contractors, which highlighted its plans as well the role the businesses can play in helping to turn the investment into real developments.
EDF Energy wants to build four European Pressurized Reactors in Britain, with the first due to be fully operational by 2017.
The major investment the company is proposing is likely to create a number of opportunities for British workers.
Vincent de Rivaz, EDF Energy's chief executive, said that it was no longer about "should" we build new nuclear facilities or even a question of "when" - it was "now about how".
"The huge investment we will now make to deliver new nuclear is good news for UK workers because it will create significant employment opportunities over the coming years," he explained.
"We intend to maximise the opportunities for British companies."
EDF recently announced that British Gas parent company Centrica would invest in its nuclear business.
