Students seeking civil engineering jobs are remaining confident about securing a job once they graduate.

According to a recent survey by Gradcracker, two-thirds of engineering students are reasonably or very confident about finding a permanent position once they finish their studies.

This compares to a recent National Union of Students poll, which revealed that just 20 per cent of all graduates displayed the same levels of confidence.

Annie Greenfield-Edwards, gradcracker's head of student communications, said that the reason for the survey was to gauge the opinion of its "niche audience".

"Certainly many engineering employers have frozen or reduced their graduate programmes but a good number have continued to recruit," she commented.

It was also shown that 93 per cent of engineering students said they would be willing to relocate in order to find work, which is far higher than graduates across all sectors.

Gradcracker recently announced that it would support the University of Aberdeen's in Engineering & IT Fair, which will be held on October 19th.
