Construction work has been completed on a multi-million overhaul of one of the north-east's most popular attractions.
Those in construction jobs have completed an £11.5 million rebuild project at the Great North Museum in Newcastle, with the venue having attracted more than 50,000 visitors in its first week of reopening.
Kier Engineering Services were responsible for designing the temporary works, which included the construction of an extension to the rear of the museum.
This has enabled 11 new galleries, and 5,500 sq m of display space, to be created.
Steve Flint, Kier North East's regional director, said the company was "proud" to have worked on one of the region's most prestigious buildings.
"I know the public will be delighted with what they see and will enjoy the building and its wonderful exhibitions for many years to come," he commented.
Kier North East recently celebrated reaching a milestone in the construction of Carlisle Carleton Clinic, a £2.5 million psychiatric care facility.
