An aerospace company in the North West has announced plans to embark on a civil engineering recruitment drive in order to fill ten new positions.

The news came after Aerotech Design Consultants (ADC) won £100,000 of funding from the Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA) through its national Grant for Business Innovation (GBI) programme.

ADC intends to use the money to buy new laser tracking equipment and said that the funding would help it to hire ten new skilled engineers.

Mark Hughes, executive director of economic development for the NWDA, said that the region is at the heart of the UK's aerospace industry.

"With its GBI award, Aerotech Design will be able to achieve stronger links with national and international customers through their enhanced service levels that will benefit the industry and region as a whole."

Meanwhile, the BBC reported at the beginning of June that the number of civil engineering positions in the UK could rise by eight per cent this year.
