New construction jobs have been created in Northern Ireland following the opening of a £9 million production plant in Belfast, it has been reported.
An initial 30 jobs will be created at the Larsen Manufacturing plant, where chemicals will be processed for use in the city's construction industry.
The new facility was opened by Northern Ireland first minister Peter Robinson and deputy first minister Martin McGuinness, both of whom welcomed the investment.
Speaking at the opening, Mr Robinson said: "Despite the current challenging economic conditions, particularly within the construction sector, Larsen is an excellent example of how such businesses can compete by focusing on innovation and new product development."
Larsen is based at West Bank Road in the Port of Belfast and has seen its turnover increase by more than 40 per cent since 2005.
In further good news for the Northern Ireland construction industry, it was reported that Invest NI had pledged £290,836 towards a number of research and development based investments undertaken by Larsen over the past five years.
It was reported last month that 8,000 construction jobs in Northern Ireland had been lost or were under threat due to the economic slowdown.
