A new hotel is set to be built in the city of Lisburn in Northern Ireland after planning officials gave their approval, it has been reported.
Hospitality firm Whitbread intends to build a £10 million Premier Inn hotel offering 60 rooms and a Brewers Fayre restaurant on Hillsborough Road as part of its efforts to expand its presence in Northern Ireland.
Des Taggart, spokesman for development firm the Conway Group, told 4NI.co.uk that the development is a "great opportunity for Lisburn", adding that the project could create "new parking access and a potential new route into the Lagan Valley Regional park".
The publication also reports that a Lisburn businessman is hoping to open a five-star hotel and spa just outside the city by 2010, providing a further boost to the construction recruitment sector in the area.
Lisburn City Council is also currently considering proposals to build a new sports stadium on the site of the former Maze prison.
Janine Graham, of architecture practice Hok Sport, told the BBC: "We feel it's a hugely exciting project."
