Merger 'strengthens' Scottish construction firm

The merger of two firms in Scotland has given a boost to both of their businesses, it has been suggested.

Highlands and Islands based UBC Group - a construction and civil engineering company whose recent projects include the Culbokie eco-homes scheme in Inverness and the Glenmore Lodge in Aviemore - has now united its operation with that of painting and decorating firm Mardon Project Services.

Mardon is based in central and northern Scotland, something UBC managing director James Pedrana told the Stornoway Gazette is important to the firm.

"The UBC Group is expanding from its base in the Highlands and Islands to the central belt of Scotland.

"Having Mardon as part of our company is hugely important. It strengthens our ability to continue delivering quality service in all parts of the country," he explained.

Mr Pedrana added that Mardon employees "are people who take pride in their work and staff".

Donald Macphee, the managing director of Mardon, said: "With Mardon as part of the UBC Group, we can move forward and concentrate on taking the company to the next level."ADNFCR-1582-ID-18543697-ADNFCR
