Sunscreen for construction workers

A construction company is handing out free sunscreen to its workers, it has been reported.
In news which may be over interest to site managers, Northern Ireland-based Polly Group started the scheme to help protect its workers as the summer weather begins to brighten up, according to the BBC.
The Downpatrick firm is working with a local pharmacy chain to supply workers with sunscreen with protection ranging from 20 to 50 SPF.
Colm Murtagh, Health and Safety officer from the Polly Group, told the news provider: "Initially we didn't know what way the boys would react to it, but as time has gone on, people understand that skin cancer, especially in men has risen a lot over this last number of years."
He also revealed that the firm is encouraging its site managers to set a good example and use the sunscreen themselves.
According to the Skin Cancer Foundation, those worker outside, such as in construction jobs, should use measures such as sunscreen, caps and long-sleeved shirts to avoid too much exposure to the sun.
