One of the UK's largest construction companies could be in line to offer new construction jobs after it emerged as favourite for a major new education sector project in West Sussex.
Construction website ContractJournal.com says that BAM Construction, which operates from several regions throughout the UK, is set to clinch the first-stage tender award for the £50 million Northbrook College redevelopment project.
The college wants to build a new facility in Worthing to create one central campus at its Broadwater site.
Commenting on the first stage of the project, a source told the website: "If you win the first-stage tender, you're in the strongest position to win the whole shooting match - but it doesn't always happen that way."
BAM should hear a decision on their bid in the next four weeks, when a date will then be set for the commencement of construction work.
According to the Lancashire Telegraph, the construction firm was responsible for creating construction jobs for 800 people in the north-west last year.
