Construction workers in Staffordshire interested in improving their job prospects are being encouraged to attend an open evening at Newcastle College, reports the Sentinel.
The event will take place tonight (November 19th) and will allow prospective apprentices the chance to find out more about the number of construction training schemes available.
Commenting on the open evening, Paula Rowland, construction manager at the college, told the newspaper that the college had recently recruited a number of new NVQ assessors and had several immediate starts available for people in construction jobs seeking on-the-job-training.
"Apprenticeships are available for people of all ages and are a good way to gain qualifications and experience while continuing in employment," she said.
Visitors to the event will be able to try hands-on activities as well as having the opportunity to discuss courses with staff and tutors. They will also be given a guided tour of Newcastle College's construction centre in Knutton Lane.
The college currently offers five higher education courses in construction, ranging from a BTEC HND Construction & the Built Environment (which equips graduates with the experience to apply for civil engineering jobs) to a Foundation Degree in Residential Surveying.
