One of the UK's leading construction companies will be responsible for the delivery of three new primary schools in Bradford, according to cnplus.co.uk.

Costain, a founding member of the Channel Tunnel joint venture, has reportedly signed a £40 million deal under the government's Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme, a project which should create a number of construction jobs.

Under the terms of the deal, Costain will share the deal with Spanish infrastructure firm Ferrovial Agroman.

Commenting on the closure of the deal, Costain chief executive Andrew Wyllie told the construction website that his company was delighted to be awarded an "exciting" BSF contract.

"Education is an important sector for Costain and this award reinforces our strategy to focus on repeat order work with key customers," he said.

Construction work has already started on the new schools thanks to early works agreements and is due for completion during 2009/10.

Costain announced on November 13th that it had started work on a £90.4 million scheme to refurbish the M25's Bell Common Tunnel.
