New construction jobs will be created during the next phase of a £70 million mixed-use development in Barnsley, it has been reported.
Landmark Development Projects and Quest Property have appointed Manchester-based Browns Construction Group to start construction work on a 110-bed Premier Inn hotel and restaurant in the Yorkshire town's Gateway Plaza development.
Commenting on the project, Dave Booth, contracts manager for Browns Construction Group, said that his team was looking forward to building the hotel as part of the next phase of the development.
"It is a complex and exciting project to be delivering, with handover of the hotel expected in the summer of 2009," he said.
He added that the first stages of the project had progressed well, with the next stage involving the handover of new-build apartments in 2010.
Construction work on the hotel site will start in the new year, with the first phase involving the construction of the building's timber framework.
Browns Construction announced in September that it had secured £147 million worth of new contracts in its 147th year of business.
