Retail park expansion will create Hull construction jobs

New construction jobs are being created in Hull thanks to the £1 million expansion of a retail park.

Construction work at the Kingswood Retail Park, which is located in the north of the city, will begin in a matter of weeks, the Hull Daily Mail reports.

The new development will be built in a section of an existing car-park outside the park's Comet store.

Speaking to the newspaper, Hull City Council leader Carl Minns said that the new facilities are "just what places like Kingswood need".

"Any new jobs are good news at the moment and this development is a boost for the area."

Once completed, the development will house new branches of Costa, Subway and Greggs.

Plans were given the go-ahead by councillors last December, with Harris Partnership being involved as the lead architect.

It is estimated that, by 2013, there will be over 121,000 people in construction jobs in the north-east region.

The figure for this year stands at approximately 116,000.
